During the General War, the different powers continued to improve their designs. Frigates, which were too small to survive in fleet battles, gave way to war destroyers. Cruisers were replaced by command cruisers, then heavy command cruisers, and finally heavy battlecruisers. The Klingon C-7 class heavy battlecruiser, introduced in 2297, was a superb example of the heavy battlecruiser type, easily the equial to the Federation's Kirov class, and the improved firing arcs made up for a degraded turn rate. Built upon a D-7 class spaceframe, the C-7 had a crew complement of 550, a capacity of twelve shuttlecraft, four science labs, six transporters, four tractor beam emitters, and was armed with four Type-B missile launchers, four Type-4 disruptors, ten banks of Type-1 phasers, and three banks of Type-3 phasers.[1]
