The NX class Starship Challenger was launched in late August 2155. The Challenger was destroyed in March 2156, when Earth Starfleet Captain Roy Dunsel initiated the ship's self-destruct rather than allow it to fall into Romulan hands while defending Andoria, sacrificing the lives of all aboard so that the Romulans could not use Challenger's weapons against Andoria after the ship's computers had been remotely taken over.[1]
