Constitution class[1]

The Constitution class Starship Hornet, authorized for construction by the Starfleet Authorization of Stardate 3220,[2] was commissioned to Mark III specifications in January 2267, and in June 2271 was refit to Mark IV specifications.[3] In August 2278, the Hornet, with the Miranda class U.S.S. Invicta NCC-26246, discovered hull and engine components of the missing U.S.S. Menke, 280 parsecs from the Menke's last known position 11 years earlier, baffling scientists.[4]

Note

The registry listed for the Hornet in the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual," NCC-1778, conflicts with that established in the "Star Fleet Technical Manual," NCC-1714, and must be disregarded. It is unclear if the Hornet was ever refit to the post-2273 Refit specifications.
