court martial

(Redirected from court-martial)
A court martial was a military trial. On Stardate 2947.3, Captain James T. Kirk became the first starship commander in Starfleet history to face a court martial. He was accused of negligence and perjury in the death of Lieutenant Commander Ben Finney, but he was able to prove that Finney was still alive, and the entire situation was concocted to frame him and destroy his career.[1] Not long thereafter, Lieutenant Commander Spock, Kirk's first officer, also faced a court martial, this time for mutiny.[2] The trial turned out to be one of a number of illusions concocted by the Talosians, and the charges were soon dropped and the events classified.[3]
