The Federation Starship Cortez was a Larson class destroyer commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/9609 (September 2196). The Cortez was refit to Mark II specifications on RSD 1/9806 (June 2198), giving it more powerful phasers and an additional torpedo launcher. On RSD 2/1011 (November 2210), the ship was refit again to the Mark VI configuration, and RSD 2/1512 (December 2215) saw another refit, this time to the Mark VII specifications. As of RSD 2/2306 (June 2223), the Cortez was still on active service.[1]
