Reference Stardate 2/1000 through 2/1012
Nelson class (FASA 2011) (Colorized; Original B&W Image)
- RSD 2/0903 - 2/1003: Season 3 of Star Trek occurs.[1]
- RSD 2/10: The Baton Rouge class is retired from service.[2]
- RSD 2/10: After an altercation with a Romulan cruiser that had penetrated the Neutral Zone, the U.S.S. Lafayette encounters another Orion pirate. Lieutenant j.g. Fayel R'Zaad had no problem targeting and engaging the Romulan, but the sight of the Orion again pulled at his stomach. As a loyal officer, he engages the Orion target and destroys it. He later confides to Lieutenant j.g. Joshua Scott his own misgivings.[3]
- RSD 2/10: Thadeus MacDonald and Kbarra are married in a Human ceremony on Sheridan's World. Kbarra renounces her past line affiliations.[4]
- RSD 2/10: Star Fleet Intelligence Command later learns that the Nelson class scout U.S.S. Valdez, captured by the Klingons during the Four Years War, is destroyed during this time. The Klingons had been using the Valdez along their coreward border at the time of its destruction.[5]
January
- RSD 2/1001: Star Fleet Intelligence later confirms that the Romulan Imperial Navy begins using Klingon-built V-11 Stormbird class cruisers along their side of the Neutral Zone.[5]
- RSD 2/1001.30 (30 January): Penchan II becomes the fourth member of the Imperial Klingon States. Penchan is vital to the future existence of the IKS because of its vast crystal deposits, including dilithium. With these and other metals present, the IKS can begin rebuilding its worn-out fleet.[6]
February
- RSD 2/1002: The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 participates in Operation Purloin, a Star Fleet Intelligence operation to seize a prototype of a new Romulan cloaking device. Operating under sealed orders directly from the Federation Council, Captain James T. Kirk takes the Enterprise into Romulan space. Commander Spock, also operating under sealed orders, gains the confidence of the Romulan Commander and distracts her long enough for Kirk, disguised as a Romulan, to steal the prototype cloaking device. The Enterprise escapes with the device and confirmation of a Klingon-Romulan technological agreement. The device works once when they escape from the Romulan Neutral Zone, but it later fails to function when detached from the Enterprise for study.[7][1][8]
March
- RSD 2/1003.01 (1 March): The first Federation contact with the Tholians occurs, though the Vulcans were aware of their presence.[1] The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 encounters two Spinner class starships under Tholian Commander Loskene while responding to a distress call from the Constitution class cruiser U.S.S. Defiant NCC-1764.[9][5]
- RSD 2/1003 - 2/1103: Star Trek: The Animated Series occurs.[10]
April
- RSD 2/1004: Despite intense examination by the best minds in Star Fleet, the Romulan cloaking device remains a mystery. Nevertheless, political pressure forces the Federation to make a public display of the stolen device. Again installed on a Federation ship, this one filled with dignitaries and influential people from all over the Federation, the ship vanishes from view. To the horror of the test's organizers and the Federation Council, who pressed for the test over the advice from Star Fleet Research and Exploration scientists, the ship never reappears. Subsequent attempts to duplicate the cloaking device meet with complete failure. Council members who advocated a harder stance against the Romulans, and who gained in stature because of the success of Operation Purloin, lose credibility because of the disaster.[1][8]
July
- RSD 2/1007: Star Fleet Intelligence Command adds its tenth Operating Forces Sector, Tholian Sector Intelligence. The Technical Services Subdivision also adds Tholian Activities Units.[11]
