Lieutenant Kyle was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2267 as a transporter operator. On Stardate 3113.2, the Enterprise accidentally traveled back in time to July 1969. Kyle was on duty and beamed aboard Captain John Christopher, a United States Air Force fighter pilot, and an Air Police Sergeant. When the ship returned to its own time, Kyle then managed to beam both men into the bodies of their past selves,[1] pioneering a technique that the 29th-century Temporal Integrity Commission would refer to as "reintegration."[2] When Dr. McCoy was accidentally injected with an overdose of cordrazine, he rendered Kyle unconscious before using the transporter to beam himself down to Gateway, where he used the Guardian of Forever to travel back in time to 1930, accidentally creating an alternate timeline.[3] On Stardate 3468.1, he was on duty on the bridge during an encounter with Apollo on Pollux IV.[4]
