The Federation Starship Lafayette was a Bonhomme Richard class cruiser (a variant of the Constitution class). Construction was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 3220,[1] and the ship was commissioned circa 2194. Like the rest of the class, the Lafayette served in combat during the Four Years War.[2] Nearly all of the Bonhomme Richard class vessels that survived the war, including the Lafayette, were decommissioned and destroyed in weapons testing as part of Star Fleet's postwar demilitarization.[2]
