The Federation Starship Lafayette was a Bonhomme Richard class cruiser (a variant of the Constitution class). Construction was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 3220,[1] and the ship was commissioned circa 2194. Like the rest of the class, the Lafayette served in combat during the Four Years War.[2] The Lafayette was destroyed during the war,[3] and succeeded by the Larson class destroyer U.S.S. Lafayette NCC-4397 on Reference Stardate 1/9704 (April 2197).[4]

The Federation Starship Lafayette was a CC+ type Constitution class heavy cruiser, commissioned as a CC-type command cruiser circa 2250. The ship was refit to the CC+ specifications circa 2270.[5]
