Construction on the Federation Starship Merrimac, a Bonhomme Richard class cruiser (a variant of the Constitution class), was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 3220,[1] and the ship was commissioned circa 2194.[2] The Merrimac was no longer in service by 2200, when it was succeeded by the U.S.S. Challenger NCC-1715,[3] and was likely destroyed during the Four Years War.[2]
