The Federation Starship Brenton was the prototype vessel of the Brenton class[1] and was commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/1404 (April 2214).[2] Designed and built by the Andorian firm of A'Alakor Landiss Inc., the Brenton was designed as a fill-in for the Constitution class cruisers, being cheaper to build and, with a much smaller crew, to operate. Designed more for combat than research, the Brenton nevertheless did have some research facilities aboard. Initially intended to have the older FWC warp engines, the design was quickly altered when the FWF was introduced.[1]
