Constitution class[1]

The Constitution class[2][3][4] Starship Intrepid was commissioned in April 2246, and refit to Mark III specifications in June 2260.[3] Crewed entirely by Vulcans,[5] the Intrepid was under repair in maintenance section 18 at Starbase 11 when the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 arrived after being damaged in an ion storm in 2266. The Enterprise was given priority for repair over the Intrepid by Commodore Stone, commander of the facility.[6][4] The Intrepid was later destroyed with all hands by a massive Amoeba cosmozoan near the Gamma 7A system in 2267.[5]

Note

The Intrepid's class and hull number were given in "The Star Trek Encyclopedia" as "conjectural," but have since been used in other official publications. The registry listed in the "Star Fleet Technical Manual," NCC-1708, conflicts with these sources and must be disregarded.
