U.S.S. Saratoga (ST04)
U.S.S. Saratoga (ST04)

The Federation Starship Saratoga, a Miranda class cruiser, was constructed to Refit Mark II specifications and commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/2109 (September 2284).[1][2]

On Stardate 8390, while patrolling Sector 5 of the Neutral Zone, the Saratoga encountered a probe of unknown origin on course for the Sol system. As the crew attempted in vain to make contact, the ship was neutralized by the probe, the transmissions of which were being carried on an amplification wave of enormous power, impacting on all ship's systems. The ship's power was later restored when the probe left Earth.[3]

The Saratoga was refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/3606 (June 2299). On Reference Stardate 2/5003 (March 2313), the Saratoga was decommissioned and placed into mothballs.[4]

Saratoga II NCC-1720 as a Constitution class vessel, it would exist at the same time as the Miranda/Reliant class Saratoga seen in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, released a year later. The two Saratogas have been merged into a single entry to resolve this conflict.
