Prime Timeline
(The root of all realities)

Originally the U.S.S. Sao Paulo NCC-75633, the Defiant class escort was rechristened Defiant in 2375 after coming under the command of former Defiant commanding officer Captain Benjamin Sisko, in honor of its sister ship,[1] which had been destroyed weeks earlier during the Battle of Chin'toka.[2] The new Defiant played a pivotal role in the final battle of the Dominion War, the Battle of Cardassia.[3]

In 2384, the Defiant was affected by the Living Construct aboard the U.S.S. Protostar NX-76884. The crew lost all control over the ship, which began to fire upon all other Starfleet vessels in the vicinity, while those ships also fired upon the Defiant. The ship was heavily damaged in the engagement.[4]
