Sgt. Lipton[1] was a security guard at McKinley Rocket Base on Earth in 1968. He was incapacitated by Gary Seven, who sought to sabotage a rocket bearing an orbital nuclear weapons platform before it could launch. Lipton came to right as Captain Kirk and Commander Spock beamed down in pursuit of Seven, apprehending the two Starfleet officers, who had traveled back in time from 2268 aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. While the pair were in custody, Lipton answered a call from Lieutenant Commander Scott on a confiscated communicator. While he was distracted by the unfamiliar device, Spock rendered him unconscious once again with a nerve pinch and the two officers escaped.[2]
