Yosemite National Park was a ruggedly beautiful area on Earth.[1] When the Talosians accessed the computer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2254, they learned about Earth's history, including viewing images of Yosemite.[2] In 2287, James T. Kirk, Spock, and Leonard McCoy went camping while on shore leave at Yosemite. Kirk attempted to free climb El Capitan, one of the park's famous mountains during their visit, which was interrupted by an urgent mission from Starfleet Command. After the mission was completed, the trio returned to complete their shore leave.[3]
