(The root of all realities)

This security officer, who shared both appearance and a surname[1] with engineer Ensign Roger Lemli,[2] served aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in the late 2260s. On Stardate 3541.9, he escorted Nomad out of main engineering.[3] On Stardate 4523.3, he and Lieutenant Rand were assigned to guard the quadrotriticale containers aboard Deep Space Station K-7. Unknown to anyone at the time, however, tribbles had already breached the containers and were gorging themselves on the grain shipment. He was later called to a bar on the station to break up a brawl that had broken out between members of the Enterprise crew and that of a Klingon vessel.[4] On Stardate 4768.3, he was part of a security detail with Lt. Rand, escorting a landing party to Arret, but Sargon prevented the pair from beaming down with the landing party.[5]

During a clandestine mission to steal a Romulan cloaking device on Stardate 5027.3, he was assigned to escort the Romulan Commander to the bridge after she was beamed aboard the Enterprise.[6] He was then assigned to escort Mary Janowski after the ship rescued her group of orphans from the ill-fated Starnes Expedition on Stardate 5029.5, and was immobilized on the bridge when the children seized control of the ship with the aid of a being called Gorgan.[7] He and Rand joined Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, and Dr. McCoy in responding to an assassination attempt on Medusan ambassador Kollos, and was later attacked by Dr. Lawrence Marvick, who had been driven insane after viewing the ambassador without a protective visor. When Spock later performed a mind meld with Kollos on the bridge, he attempted to restrain a temporarily insane Spock but was thrown across the bridge.[8]

On Stardate 5121.5, the Vians created an illusion of him with Lt. Commander Scott and another security officer to trick Captain Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and an empath named Gem.[9] He was ordered to escort Klingon Commander Kang and the surviving members of his crew to confinement in one of the ship's rec rooms during an incident at Beta XIIA.[10] He was then part of a landing party on the planet Scalos on Stardate 5710.5, investigating a distress call from the Scalosians.[11]

He was part of a security team sent to a Kalandan Outpost to rescue Captain Kirk, Dr. McCoy, and Lt. Sulu, saving the trio's lives when he fired his phaser on the outpost's computer, preventing it from projecting lethal replicas of Losira, the outpost's late commander.[12] On Stardate 5730.2, he attempted to apprehend Lokai on the bridge, but his phaser beam was blocked by a personal shield worn by the Cheronian.[13] He was later assigned to a security detail on Elba II after the inmates of the asylum attempted to escape on Stardate 5718.3.[14] He and the entire crew were briefly miniaturized and placed into stasis by Flint on Stardate 5843.8.[15] On Stardate 5928.5, he was ordered to bring Dr. Janice Lester to testify at a court martial for Commander Spock. After Captain Kirk—whose body had been taken over by Lester—ordered the executions of Spock, McCoy, Scott, and Lester—which was now host to Kirk's mind—he was ordered to escort them to the brig.[1]
