  • The Nomad space probe is launched in the early 2000s. The probe was designed by Jackson Roykirk to search for extraterrestrial life forms. It is eventually lost in space and presumed destroyed.[2]

  • The S.S. Valiant encounters a magnetic storm that pushes it beyond the edge of the galaxy. Upon re-entering through the Galactic Barrier, several crew members begin exhibiting extraordinary psychic powers. The captain is forced to order the destruction of his ship.[11]
