The Federation Starship Reliant was an Anton class vessel; on Reference Stardate 2/1507 (July 2215), the Reliant underwent a major refit and became the lead vessel of the Reliant class.[1] In 2217, the Reliant, under the command of Captain Clark Terrell, was assigned to Project Genesis. Five years later on Stardate 8121 (Reference Stardate 2/2206 (June 2222), while searching for a lifeless world where the radical terraforming technology could be tested safely, the ship was seized by Khan Noonien Singh, who stranded the crew on the devastated world of Ceti Alpha V. The ship was destroyed several days later, when Khan detonated the Genesis Device in a last-ditch attempt to kill Admiral James T. Kirk.[2]
