The Federation Starship Valiant, in the final year of a five-year mission of exploration for the Galactic Exploration Outreach Program,[1] was lost in the vicinity of the Eminiar system[2] in 2153[1] (Reference Stardate 1/53).[3] At last report, the Valiant was heading at warp 3 along coordinates 30° mark 175° mark 210°, and had entered Sector 4 of Quadrant III. The only system in the area was the Eminiar system, which was believed to be uninhabited at the time and an unlikely destination for the ship.[1] The Valiant and its crew were declared a "casualty" of the "war" between Eminiar VII and Vendikar. The ship was destroyed, and its crew killed. The fate of the Valiant remained a mystery until the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 visited Eminiar VII on Stardate 3192.1.[2]
