Construction on the Federation Starship Lexington,[1] a Constitution class vessel, was authorized by the Star Fleet Appropriation of Stardate 0965.[2] The Lexington was commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/8912 (December 2189), and was refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/0304 (April 2203).[3]
In 2210, the Lexington, commanded by Commodore Robert Wesley, participated in the disastrous tests of the M-5 multitronic computer. During those tests, the multitronic unit malfunctioned and fired full phasers on the Lexington, killing 53 people on that ship, as well as the entire crew of the U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-1664.[4] On Reference Stardate 2/13 (2213), Kristine Reardon was offered command of the Lexington, but declined in favor of the U.S.S. Strider NCC-7141.[5] The ship was lost on Reference Stardate 2/1302 (February 2213).[3][6]

- ↑ Although the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual" establishes that the Lexington was lost on Reference Stardate 2/0702 (February 2207), this conflicts with the episode "The Ultimate Computer" and other FASA materials; the date has been adjusted to 2/1302 (February 2213) to resolve the conflict.
