Sol system (WoF)
Located in Quadrant I of the United Federation of Planets,[4] Sol, commonly known within the Sol system as the Sun,[6] is orbited by eight planets and several dwarf planets, such as Pluto (Sol IX).[5] The third planet, Earth, is the Human homeworld, and the system has been extensively colonized, with a total system population of 31 billion. Extensive mining colonies were located on Mercury, Ceres, and Ganymede.[1] The Talosians viewed an image of the Sol system and many images of Earth’s history while accessing the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701's computer in 2196.[2]
