Stardate 5392.4: Cyrano Jones introduces tribbles that he says cannot reproduce.
Transporting quintotriticale to Sherman's Planet, the Enterprise rescues Cyrano Jones from a Klingon warship. Jones has a new cargo of tribbles that, he says, have been altered to prevent their frequennt reproduction. But even these tribbles can't resist the quintotriticale aboard the Enterprise and become so enormous that Jones' tribble predator, a glommer, can't swallow them. The Klingons appear again and demand that Jones be handed over, as he has stolen the glommer from their ship. Kirk returns the animal but refuses to give Jones to the Klingons, and McCoy discovers that the genetically-altered, giant tribbles are actually colonies of many smaller ones. Some of these are beamed aboard the Klingon vessel, and Captain Koloth once again has his hands full as the Enterprise leaves.
