The Starship Valiant, a galactic survey vessel, was lost near the edge of the galaxy in 2069. When the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 recovered the Valiant's recorder-marker buoy on Stardate 1312.4, they discovered that, after encountering the Galactic Barrier, the captain made several urgent requests for information on ESP before giving the order to destroy the ship.[1]
