Reference Stardate 2/1801 through 2/1812
- RSD 2/18: In a move to transmit disinformation to Star Fleet Intelligence and occupy the United Federation of Planets, Romulan Military Division Intelligence decides to transform an operative into an outcast, who will make contact with the Federation intelligence community. Commander Decartus recruits R'thlana to become a voluntary k'manatram. R'thlana becomes an operative for Military Division Intelligence, but the change in service is not noted on her service record. R'thlana attends training sessions during her off-duty hours.[1]
- RSD 2/18: Without the concurrence of the Yhout patriarch, Fayel R'Zaad attacks and destroys a small Romulan mining colony on Rockhaven. Later, he buys and outfits a private vessel of his own to escort his cruiser. This private vessel acts in an even more piratical way than the large cruiser. R'Zaad is careful to make sure that a large portion of the profits are given to Yhout to outfit the ships of the other members of his large family.[1]
- RSD 2/18: A BioResearch advance team is landed on the moon of Newlin II to set up a corboryte retrieval operation.[1]
- RSD 2/18: Faced with continued unrest, Kexor calls for a revision of the Sherman's World colony's governmental structure. A dual monarchy is established as a form of government to which the Klingon colonists, in particular, can better identify. Kexor and Thadeus MacDonald are named the colony's rulers. Work begins on a new palace for the colony's rulers, thus solidifying the monarchy.[2]
- RSD 2/18-2/23 (2218 through 2223): Fayel R'Zaad continues to expand his private fleet. By the end of 2223, he will have 20 private ships operating under his command in raiding operations. He absorbs one family after another, always demanding the same oath from the new commander: that they will obey his commands or face death. He establishes a base planet of his own, well outside the control of the original Orion families; and, although he pledges loyalty and support to his seniors, there is some feeling of discomfort toward him.[1]
January
- RSD 2/1801: The third Romulan/Klingon treaty is signed. The Romulans gain access to new weaponry and advanced mining equipment. The Klingons gain a 12-man, scout-sized Bird of Prey, which they put into widespread use as a raider, and on which they base several larger ship designs of their own.[3]
- RSD 2/1801: Captain Ian Vellacora takes the U.S.S. Arkadelphia NCC-2792 into Asparaxian space, indirectly threatening to initiate war between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire.[4][5]
- RSD 2/1801.09 (9 January): Admiral James T. Kirk prepares a memo outlining and authorizing Operation Armageddon, a massive Star Fleet Training Command computer simulation to be used as a training exercise in lieu of field maneuvers.[5]
- RSD 2/1801.13 (13 January): Gibraltar, an unwanted world situated between the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire, overnight becomes one of the most important in the Triangle. The planet is the site of a joint settlement by the Federation and the Romulan Empire for negotiations between the two powers.[6]
February
- RSD 2/1802: The Romulan Imperial Navy begins deploying Winged Defender class heavy cruisers along the Neutral Zone[5]
- RSD 2/1802: The U.S.S. Lexington II NCC-1709 begins its shakedown cruise.[7]
- RSD 2/1802: The Constitution class cruiser U.S.S. Kongo NCC-1710, under the command of Captain J.C. Fredriksen, and the Loknar class frigates U.S.S. Halk NCC-2742 and U.S.S. Rome NCC-2726 respond to a distress signal from a Federation outpost in the Orion sector. The outpost is under attack by a group of six Klingon D-18B class destroyers commanded by Captain Kresz sutai Kargon. When the conflict is over, the Federation outpost and all three Star Fleet vessels are destroyed; the Klingons lose only two destroyers.[5]
- RSD 2/1802: The Chandley class frigate U.S.S. Hanson NCC-2309, operating near the Gorn border, encounters two Gorn cruisers boarding a Liberty class freighter. The Hanson engages the Gorn, and then Star Fleet Marines board Gorn vessels for the first time in history.[5]
- RSD 2/1802-1807 (February through July 2218): Although Operation Armageddon receives a go-ahead, programming efforts are hampered by a lack of hard data on Klingon and Romulan activities.[5]
May
- RSD 2/1805: Star Fleet Intelligence later learns that several Romulan S-11 class scouts are delivered to the Klingon Empire as part of a technological exchange treaty. This vessel, re-equipped with Klingon shipboard systems, becomes the K-22A Bird of Prey class scout.[5]
- RSD 2/1805: All search efforts made to locate the missing Reliant class research cruisers U.S.S. Triumph NCC-26228 and U.S.S. Regulator NCC-26254 are recalled.[5]
August
- RSD 2/1808: Operation Dixie begins to show significant results, as limited information on Klingon starships and shipbuilding is relayed back to the Federation. All data from Operation Dixie is immediately added to the Operation Armageddon simulation.[5]
- RSD 2/1808: The Dixie Lady at Jit receives a message from the U.S.S. Dixie Queen suggesting a rendezvous. This message is transmitted as a result of Mouhkta's manipulation of the Dixie Queen's wardroom officers.[8]
- RSD 2/1808: Marram IX is occupied by Klingon forces, though Klingon Sector Intelligence does not realize this until RSD 2/1906.[8][5]
- RSD 2/1808.10 (10 August): Saavik, ward of Sarek of Vulcan, enters Star Fleet Academy. Family prestige and the personal intervention of Sarek's famous son, Captain Spock, heads off a storm of controversy over the admission of a "Romulan" to the Academy. Though only a half-Romulan and raised as a Vulcan, Saavik is seen as an enemy alien by many Federation bigots, including those who lost many family members to the Romulans. Nevertheless, Saavik, who has embraced Vulcan teachings, is a valuable resource to Star Fleet, for whom she interprets intelligence data about the Romulans. Because of her help, many myths are put to rest and a better understanding of Romulan psychology develops.[9]
- RSD 2/1808.10 (10 August): Admiral Bram Harmonson sends a Code Red 1-A Command to the U.S.S. Strider NCC-7141, which executes her wartime orders.[7]
- RSD 2/1808.13 (13 August): The U.S.S. Strider NCC-7141 enters the Klingon Empire.[7]
- RSD 2/1808.21 (21 August): The U.S.S. Lexington NCC-1703 battles pirate vessels operating near the Klingon Neutral Zone. At the same time, the U.S.S. Strider NCC-7141 and Task Force 13 encounter a Klingon battle group under the command of Admiral Kai zantai Mik. Task Force 13 is decimated, and only the Strider escapes destruction.[7]
- RSD 2/1808.28 (28 August): The U.S.S. Strider NCC-7141 returns to Federation Defense Outpost 1121. Captain Kristine Reardon is arrested for treason.[7]
September
- RSD 2/1809: Star Fleet Intelligence later learns that there is political unrest on the Klingon world of Delleren V. It is unclear whether the local Klingon civilian governor has been replaced by a military commander.[10][5]
- RSD 2/1809.01 (1 September): The U.S.S. Lexington NCC-1703 arrives at Outpost 1121 for repairs to her warp engines.[7]
October
- RSD 2/1810.21 (21 October): Representatives from the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire sign the Treaty of Ectair. Romulans now have free access to any non-Federation planet along the frontier, provided they do not cross the Neutral Zone or approach within five light years of any Federation world.[5]
November
- RSD 2/1811: Admiral zantai Kaneida's search and destroy mission within the Triangle begins at this time, though Star Fleet does not learn of it until later. A group of Klingon warships, including a large number of K-4 class gunboats, use combined-ship tactics to destroy or capture any Romulan vessels encountered.[5]
- RSD 2/1811.14 (14 November): After months of cautious negotiations, representatives of the United Federation of Planets and the Gorn Alliance sign the Frontier Accord, limiting military activity in the disputed area. Peace talks continue on Clanhaven.[5]
