Construction on the Federation Starship El Dorado, a Bonhomme Richard class cruiser (a variant of the Constitution class), was authorized by the Star Fleet Appropriation of Stardate 3220[1] and commissioned circa June 2194. The El Dorado served in the Four Years War, and following the war, nearly all of the surviving Bonhomme Richard class vessels, including the El Dorado, were decommissioned and destroyed in weapons testing as part of Star Fleet's postwar demilitarization.[2]
