Prime Timeline
(The root of all realities)

Nyota[1] Uhura was the senior communications officer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.[2] Uhura was a native of Africa on Earth; her quarters were decorated with African statues and alien plants, and she spoke Swahili[3] as her native language.[4] Uhura enjoyed singing in the ship's recreational facilities during her off-hours.[5] She could play Spock's lyre,[6] but was unable to play a harpsichord without manipulation by Trelane.[7] She had a close friendship with Chrstine Chapel.[8]

Highly skilled, Uhura was capable of cross-circuiting[5] and repairing her communications console without assistance from engineering.[9] She was also a competent hand-to-hand fighter.[10]
