U.S.S. Enterprise (1775)
The Enterprise was a frigate in service of the United States of America in 1775. Originally a British sloop named George, the ship was captured during the early days of the American Revolution, when it was armed and renamed, becoming the first in a long line of U.S. Navy vessels to bear the name.[1] An image of the ship was displayed on the recreation deck of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2273.[2] James T. Kirk kept models of many of the ships named Enterprise in his apartment on Earth in 2285, including the U.S.S. Enterprise.[3]
