The Federation Starship Horizon was a Daedalus class starship.[2] The ship was destroyed shortly after departing Sigma Iotia II in the 2160s. Its distress signal, sent on a simple radio frequency, took a century to reach Starfleet. Before leaving Sigma Iotia II, however, the crew left behind a copy of Chicago Mobs of the Twenties. The "highly imitative" Iotians patterned their society on "The Book," causing severe cultural contamination.[3]
