January
- RSD 0/6201: Informal groups of activists coalesce to form the 100-member Mars Constituent Assembly, which publishes a document called the "Fundamental Declaration of the Martian Colonies." The document asserts that the Mars colonists are entitled to the same political and legal rights as anyone living on Earth, and is generally seen as a major step for the growing independence movment.[1][2][3][4] It will be used in the future as a precedent-setting document for worlds wanting to declare governmental autonomy.[5]

- Unknown: A strange, symbiotic alien creature boards Enterprise and starts kidnapping members of the crew.[7]
February
- RSD 1/0202: Starfleet officials become increasingly concerned as the still-unidentified Romulans continue to conduct warlike actions. With the aggressors no longer seen as mere "space pirates," many now believe the entire Romulan species may be devoted to the goal of organized, violent aggression. Meanwhile, the Mercury class scout is commissioned; just under 400 will be built, and will serve for nearly 30 years.[8][5]

September-December

- September 12: While answering a distress call, Commander Tucker is kidnapped along with a demanding alien princess. (ENT 37)
- September 18: As the Enterprise crew takes refuge inside one of the warp nacelles to avoid fatal exposure to an unavoidable wave of radiation, hostile aliens attempt to seize the ship. (ENT 38)
