Vinci[1] was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 as a security officer in 2266. On Stardate 1329.1, Ensign Vinci was assigned to a security detail for Harry Mudd and the trio of wiving settlers in Mudd's company.[2] On Stardate 1533.6, Vinci was part of a security detail ordered to restrict Charlie Evans to quarters. When Vinci pulled his phaser, Evans caused all the phasers on the ship to disappear.[3] Vinci was assigned to the bridge when the ship stopped at the Tanalus V penal colony for the criminally insane on Stardate 2715.1.[4]
Vinci was in the rec room during his off-duty hours on Stardate 2817.6 when Lieutenant Uhura serenaded the room with the song "Beyond Antares." Later, he was part of the security detail searching the ship for Lieutenant Riley.[5] When Commander Spock was accused of mutiny on Stardate 3012.4, Vinci was assigned to the detail sent to take him into custody.[6]
On Stardate 3196.1, Vinci, now a lieutenant, was part of a security team led by Lieutenant Commander Giotto during the hunt for the Horta on Janus VI. Vinci was injured when the miners attacked, clubbing him over the head several times.[1] When Commander Spock, under the influence of the neural parasites, attempted to beam down to Deneva on Stardate 3287.2, Vinci was part of the security team that responded to the transporter room.[7]
