Stardate 5591.2: Upon returning to the Amusement Park planet, the Enterprise crew finds that the Caretaker has died and the computer has taken over, creating havoc.

The Enterprise crew returns to the Amusement Park planet — but as Dr. McCoy attempts to conjure up a picture of the old South, the Queen of Hearts appears and screams, "Off with his head!" Uhura is taken prisoner by a robot. Kirk discovers the Caretaker's grave with the inscription: "Last of his race, ceased to function fifth day of the twelfth moon, year 7009 of this planet." Kirk and Spock find the captured Uhura and the planet's computer, which resents its role of servant now that the Caretaker is dead. They convince the computer it must stop its hostile actions. Spock remains with the computer, and the rest of the crew enjoys another memorable shore leave.
