Tikopai NCC-1800 in 2195, and that the dozens of ships of the class were rushed into production and commissioned to serve during the War, after which most were decommissioned or destroyed. The Spaceflight Chronology had also established that the Canopus class (and an accompanying U.S.S. Canopus) was launched in 2192, but it is reasonable to extrapolate that the previous U.S.S. Canopus may have been destroyed in the early stages of the war, making the name available once again.
