Construction on the Federation Starship Excalibur,[1] a Constitution class vessel, was authorized by the Star Fleet Appropriation of Stardate 0965.[2] The Excalibur was commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/8901 (January 2189), and refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/0402 (February 2204). The Excalibur was destroyed[3] and all personnel killed during a disastrous war-game drill with the M-5 computer on Stardate 4729.4 (Reference Stardate 2/0905 (May 2209)).[4]
