The Enterprise class Starship Excalibur was commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/1808 (August 2218).[1] On Stardate 8087.3,[2] (Reference Stardate 2/2304, April 2223)[3] the Excalibur, under the command of Captain Preye, discovered the U.S.S. Republic NCC-1373, lost in the Styx Rift[2] since Reference Stardate 2/0808 (August 2208).[3] On Reference Stardate 2/2403 (March 2224),[4] the Excalibur suffered irreparable damage and was scrapped.[1]

 4. Although the Federation Ship Recognition Manual establishes that the Excalibur was scrapped on Reference Stardate 2/2003, this date conflicts with the Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home Sourcebook Update, which established that the Excalibur found the lost Republic on Reference Stardate 2/2304. To resolve this conflict, the date that the ship was scrapped was adjusted to Reference Stardate 2/2403, about a year after that incident and another year before the Excelsior class U.S.S. Excalibur was commissioned.
