Revision as of 16:35, 26 August 2019

The Federation Starship Intrepid,[1] a Constitution class cruiser, was crewed entirely by Vulcans,[2] like her predecessor, the U.S.S. Intrepid NCC-1631.[3] Authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 4444,[4] the Intrepid was commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/1706 (June 2273).[5]

The vessel was captured soon after its maiden voyage by Romulan forces seeking to obtain Vulcan brain cells for genetic experimentation, in an attempt to artificially induce the mental powers of their Vulcan cousins. The ship and crew were rescued by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 with the aid of the Romulan warbird Bloodwing.[2] Several months later, on Reference Stardate 2/1711.15 (15 November 2273), the Intrepid, assigned a patrol route near the Triangle, the Intrepid was near Ayirn when that planet was raided by the Klingon Defense Force battlegroup known as The White Flame, but was too far to respond before the attack was over.[6]

The Intrepid was upgraded to Refit Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/2812 (December 2291); on Reference Stardate 2/4812 (December 2311), the Intrepid was scrapped, nine months prior to the launch of the Excelsior class U.S.S. Intrepid NCC-2020.[7]
