U.S.S. Yorktown II NCC-1717 (FASA)
Construction on the Federation Starship Yorktown, a Constitution class vessel, was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 3220 as the U.S.S. Defiance.[1] The Yorktown was constructed to Mark III specifications and commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/1512 (December 2271), and on Reference Stardate 2/1712 (December 2273), the Yorktown was upgraded to Refit Mark I specifications.[2][3] Michael Pollard served aboard the Yorktown from Reference Stardate 2/15-2/18 (2273-2276).[4] On Stardate 8390, the Yorktown was disabled in Sector 001 by an alien space probe approaching Earth.[5] During the incident, Captain Joel Randolph[6] reported that the ship's chief engineer had rigged a makeshift solar sail to provide emergency power for the crippled starship.[5] With the ship needing major repair and overhaul in the wake of the interference with the ship's systems caused by the probe's signal, the crew was reassigned and the ship was refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/2312 (December 2286).[7] Following the refit, the Yorktown was redesignated the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A.[8][9]
FASA Timeline
Construction on the Federation Starship Yorktown, a Constitution class vessel, was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 0965.[1] The Yorktown was commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/9005 (May 2247), and refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/0308 (August 2261).[2] On Reference Stardate 1/96 (2253), Michael Pollard completed his second cadet cruise aboard the Yorktown. Henri Beaujolais also served aboard from Reference Stardate 2/07-2/08 (2265-2266).[4] The Yorktown was scheduled to rendezvous with the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2267 to transfer critically needed vaccines for Theta VII; the Enterprise was unable to make the rendezvous with the Yorktown until the investigation and destruction of the dikironium cloud creature was complete.[10] Elias Hodgkins served aboard the Yorktown from Reference Stardate 2/09-2/11 (2267-2269).[4] The Yorktown was scrapped on Reference Stardate 2/1102 (February 2269).[2]

- ↑ Although the FASA supplement "Federation Ship Recognition Manual" (1985) established that the Yorktown was commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/1712 (December 2273), the FASA supplement "Where Has All the Glory Gone?" (1985) also established that a crew member served aboard the ship beginning in 2/15 (2271). To resolve this conflict, the ship's launch date has been moved up to 2/1512 (December 2271) as a Mark III Constitution class ship, and refit to Refit Mark I on 2/1712.

- ↑ There are several conflicting sources for which ship became the Enterprise-A. FASA game materials stated that the U.S.S. Atlantis NCC-1786 was the ship that was rechristened, while Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise stated that the ship was named the U.S.S. Ti-Ho NCC-1798, a testbed for for experiments in creating a Transwarp drive. The Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual, however, stated that the ship in question was, in fact, the U.S.S. Yorktown, which was seen earlier in Star Trek IV. Given the stronger canonical links of the Technical manual over the other book, and the priority of books over game materials in conflict resolution for this site, the conflict is resolved in favor of the Yorktown.
