Prime Timeline
(The root of all realities)

Leslie[1] was assigned to the operations division aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2266. Leslie was frequently found at the engineering station adjacent to the turbolift on the bridge, including when the ship made first contact with the First Federation on Stardate 1512.2,[2] when the ship engaged a Romulan Bird of Prey that had crossed the Neutral Zone and destroyed several Earth Outposts on Stardate 1709.2,[3] when the ship investigated the disappearance of Roger Korby on Exo III on Stardate 2712.4,[4] when the ship visited the Tantalus V penal colony for the criminally insane on Stardate 2715.1,[5] and when the ship discovered a planet that was an inexplicable duplicate of Earth on Stardate 2713.5.[6]

Leslie was again at his typical post at the bridge engineering station when the ship stopped to investigate the Murasaki 312 quasar-like phenomenon on Stardate 2821.5. When transporters proved ineffective due to interference on Taurus II, Leslie assisted in getting them operational.[7] When the ship left Starbase 11 after Captain Kirk was cleared of wrongdoing in the apparent death of Lieutenant Commander Ben Finney on Stardate 2947.3,[8] and when the ship returned to the starbase before heading to Talos IV on Stardate 3012.4,[9] Leslie was again at the engineering station.[10][11]

On Stardate 2825.3, Ensign Leslie was manning the helm when the ship left Planet Q and again when it arrived at Benecia.[1] While Captain Kirk and Commander Spock were on Gothos on Stardate 2126.1, Leslie, now a lieutenant,[12] briefly took command of the bridge.[13] When the ship encountered the Gorn on Stardate 3045.6 after an attack on Cestus IV, Leslie was again at his typical post on the bridge.[14]

On Stardate 3087.6, he was at the helm when the ship investigated moments of galaxy-wide "nonexistence," which Starfleet Command believed to be a potential prelude to invasion from an alternate universe. From that position, he fired the ship's phasers, destroying Lazarus' ship on Captain Kirk's command.[15] He was knocked from his seat at the engineering station when the ship accidentally traveled back in time from Stardate 3113.2 to July 1969.[16] Leslie was part of the landing party to Beta III on Stardate 3156.2, when they discovered what fate befell the U.S.S. Archon a century earlier. He was briefly "absorbed" into the collective consciousness of Landru, but recovered after the computer was disabled.[17]

When the ship discovered the S.S. Botany Bay on Stardate 3141.9, Leslie was on duty on the bridge. He was invited to join in a formal dinner with the revived Khan Noonien Singh, where the exiled despot's identity was finally revealed. Leslie was again at his post on the bridge when Khan briefly seized control of the ship, and was rendered unconscious when life support to the bridge was interrupted, then held prisoner in the briefing room and forced to watch while Khan nearly killed Captain Kirk.[18]

Leslie, like the rest of the ship's crew, was briefly overcome by the spores of a pod plant discovered on Omicron Ceti III on Stardate 3417.3.[19] He was in line at the transporter room to beam down to the surface when the group was confronted by Captain Kirk, who had not been infected. Kirk admonished them all to return to their stations, and when they refused, Kirk stressed that their actions were mutinous. Leslie only replied, "Yes, sir, it is," then turned his attention away from the captain.[20]

When the brief Federation-Klingon War of 2267 broke out on Stardate 3198.4, Leslie recoiled from his station when the Organians rendered any weapons or controls capable of furthering the violence too hot to touch.[21] On Stardate 3134.0, when the ship discovered the Guardian of Forever, Leslie was again at his post on the bridge.[22] On Stardate 3287.2, Leslie was acting as a transporter operator, and while assisting Lieutenant Commander Scott, he was rendered unconscious by Commander Spock, who was under the influence of the neural parasites.[23]

Leslie again worked at the bridge engineering station during an incident with two distinctly non-humanoid beings, Sylvia and Korob, on Stardate 3018.2,[24] as well as when the Shuttlecraft Galileo went missing near Gamma Canaris,[25] and again when the Klingons attempted to interfere in negotiations with the Capellans for topaline mining rights.[26] On Stardate 3468.1, the Enterprise encountered Apollo, and Leslie assisted Lt. Sulu in surveying Pollux II from orbit to determine his power source in order to break free from an energy field that resembled a giant hand.[27]

He was once again on bridge duty when the Enterprise diverted to deliver Mr. Spock to Vulcan on Stardate 3372.7,[28] as well as when the ship encountered the Doomsday Machine[29] and Redjac,[30] and also when the ship was attacked by the Vaal computer at Gamma Trianguli VI,[31] and when it visited Halka.[32] He also was on bridge duty when a landing party was affected by an unusual form of radiation that caused accelerated aging,[33] as well as when the Enterprise responded to a Priority 1 distress call from Deep Space Station K-7, and again when the ship became infested with tribbles.[34]

Leslie and Roger Lemli were both on bridge duty when the Enterprise discovered planet 892 IV, which was home to a society virtually identical to that of the Roman Empire, but with a level of technology comparable to late 20th century Earth.[35] Leslie again manned the station alone when the Enterprise ferried several ambassadors to the Babel Conference,[36] as well as during a mission to Neural,[37] and when a landing party was abducted while beaming down to Gamma II.[38]

On Stardate 3619.2, he was killed during a mining survey on Argus X by the dikironium cloud creature, which drained all of the hemoglobin from his blood.[39] He was apparently resuscitated, however, and was soon back at his station on the bridge when the Enterprise encountered an amoeboid cosmozoan that destroyed the U.S.S. Intrepid NCC-1631,[40] and when the ship made contact with Sigma Iotia II.[41]

Leslie was again on bridge duty when the ship was taken over by Kelvans. He and nearly the entire crew were reduced to dehydrated blocks, but were restored after Captain Kirk and the remaining crew were able to retake the ship.[42]

  11. At the end of "The Menagerie, Part II," Eddie Paskey was plainly visible at the engineering station behind Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. The scene cut to a different camera angle, and Paskey was again visible at the navigation station in front of Kirk, while the engineering station was out of the camera shot. In "The Trouble With Tribbles," Leslie was shown on bridge duty on the Enterprise while Rand was simultaneously on guard duty aboard K-7. Rather than conduct mental gymnastics to attempt to explain how Leslie could be in two places simultaneously, Occam's Razor suggests that Rand and Leslie were separate characters.
  12. Leslie had no rank insignia until "The Squire of Gothos," where it appeared and disappeared several times during the episode, then remained consistently lieutenant afterward.

  19. Eddie Paskey appeared briefly in a scene on the surface of Omicron Ceti III shortly before another scene shows him about to beam down to the planet, apparently for the first time. Since both Rand and Leslie wore identical uniforms, it's not a stretch to conclude that Rand was already on the surface before Leslie beamed down.
