U.S.S. Lexington (TOS 53)
U.S.S. Lexington (TOS 53)
The Federation Starship Lexington,[1] a Constitution class cruiser commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/8912 (December 2246), was refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/0304 (April 2261). The ship was lost on Reference Stardate 2/0702 (February 2265),[2] but recovered some time afterward.[3]
In 2268, the Lexington, commanded by Commodore Robert Wesley, participated in the disastrous tests of the M-5 multitronic computer. During those tests, the multitronic unit malfunctioned and fired full phasers on the Lexington, killing 53 people on that ship, as well as the entire crew of the U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-1664.[4]
Lieutenant Watley, presumably an ancestor of Deep Space 9 chief medical officer Julian Bashir, transferred from the Lexington to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 a few months before the M-5 tests, and unknowingly met her time-traveling descendant while the Enterprise was at Deep Space K-7 in 2268.[5]
On Reference Stardate 2/13 (2270), Kristine Reardon was offered command of the Lexington, but declined in favor of the U.S.S. Strider NCC-7141.[6] The ship was upgraded to the Refit Mark I specifications on Reference Stardate 2/1802 (June 2275).[2] While patrolling the Klingon Neutral Zone during the ship's shakedown, the warp drive became erratic, and Captain Grant Franklin ordered the ship to Starbase 12 for repairs. The Lexington encountered a pirate vessel en route and took heavy damage, so the ship was rerouted to the closer Orbital Defense Outpost 1121 in the Korial system; even then, it took seven months to reach the outpost, and the ship arrived on Reference Stardate 2/1809.1 (1 January 2276). While at the outpost, several members of the ship's senior staff stole the Strider in order to search for that ship's log buoy, in an effort to clear the Strider's Captain Reardon, who was facing charges after her ship entered the Neutral Zone. The Lexington's command staff at the time of the Strider Incident included Commander Wanda Worrenstill, first officer; Commander Wendell Maynard, chief engineer; Commander Winston Driveon, chief medical officer; Lieutenant Commander Megan Trellan, science officer; Lieutenant Commander V'Shall, navigator; Lieutenant Commander David Ralston, security chief; Lieutenant James Turnham, helmsman; and Lieutenant Marvin Wanglestein, communications officer.[6] Shari Shranim completed her cadet cruise aboard the Lexington on Reference Stardate 2/16 (2272), and Elias Hodgkins served aboard the ship from Reference Stardate 2/17 through 2/22 (2273-2285).[7]
The Lexington, now under the command of Captain Andrew Yewling, was on patrol near Memory Alpha during the spacejacking of the U.S.S. Juggernaut by Orion pirates on Reference Stardate 2/2107.16 (16 July 2284).[8] On Reference Stardate 2/2601 (January 2289), the Lexington was refit to Mark III specifications, then to Mark IV on Reference Stardate 2/3309 (September 2296). The Lexington was scrapped on Reference Stardate 2/3812 (December 2301).[9]

The Federation Starship Lexington,[1] a Constitution class cruiser commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/8912 (December 2189), was refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/0304 (April 2203). The ship was lost on Reference Stardate 2/0702 (February 2207),[2] but recovered some time afterward.[3]
In 2210, the Lexington, commanded by Commodore Robert Wesley, participated in the disastrous tests of the M-5 multitronic computer. During those tests, the multitronic unit malfunctioned and fired full phasers on the Lexington, killing 53 people on that ship, as well as the entire crew of the U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-1664.[4]
On Reference Stardate 2/13 (2213), Kristine Reardon was offered command of the Lexington, but declined in favor of the U.S.S. Strider NCC-7141.[6] The ship was upgraded to the Refit Mark I specifications on Reference Stardate 2/1802 (February 2218).[2] While patrolling the Klingon Neutral Zone during the ship's shakedown, the warp drive became erratic, and Captain Grant Franklin ordered the ship to Starbase 12 for repairs. The Lexington encountered a pirate vessel en route and took heavy damage, so the ship was rerouted to the closer Orbital Defense Outpost 1121 in the Korial system; even then, it took seven months to reach the outpost, and the ship arrived on Reference Stardate 2/1809.1 (1 September 2218). While at the outpost, several members of the ship's senior staff stole the Strider in order to search for that ship's log buoy, in an effort to clear the Strider's Captain Reardon, who was facing charges after her ship entered the Neutral Zone. The Lexington's command staff at the time of the Strider Incident included Commander Wanda Worrenstill, first officer; Commander Wendell Maynard, chief engineer; Commander Winston Driveon, chief medical officer; Lieutenant Commander Megan Trellan, science officer; Lieutenant Commander V'Shall, navigator; Lieutenant Commander David Ralston, security chief; Lieutenant James Turnham, helmsman; and Lieutenant Marvin Wanglestein, communications officer.[6] Shari Shranim completed her cadet cruise aboard the Lexington on Reference Stardate 2/16 (2216), and Elias Hodgkins served aboard the ship from Reference Stardate 2/17 through 2/22 (2217-2222).[7]
The Lexington, now under the command of Captain Andrew Yewling, was on patrol near Memory Alpha during the spacejacking of the U.S.S. Juggernaut by Orion pirates on Reference Stardate 2/2107.16 (16 July 2221).[8] On Reference Stardate 2/2601 (January 2226), the Lexington was refit to Mark III specifications, then to Mark IV on Reference Stardate 2/3309 (September 2233). The Lexington was scrapped on Reference Stardate 2/3812 (December 2238).[9]

- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The registry listed for the Lexington in the "Star Fleet Technical Manual," NCC-1703, conflicts with the registry given in both the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual" and The Star Trek Encyclopedia, which was also later used in the remastered version of "The Ultimate Computer," as well as with the registry of the U.S.S. Hood NCC-1703, and must be disregarded.

- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Although the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual" establishes that the Lexington was lost on Reference Stardate 2/0702 (February 2265), and a new ship with the same name and registry was constructed to refit specifications on Reference Stardate 2/1802 (April 2274), this conflicts with evidence from multiple sources, including the episode "The Ultimate Computer" and other FASA materials; the two ships have been merged into a single entry to reflect this.
